When do I send them?
For the big day, it is recommended you do not send them any later than 6-8 weeks after the event. If you are sending thank you cards for a bridal shower however, it is recommended you do not wait more than 2 weeks. Remember to always send two separate thank you notes for you wedding and your bridal shower, even if they are to the same person. Now that we have timing down…the content comes next.
What do I write?
The biggest piece of advice we can give in regard to writing thank you cards is be genuine, express gratitude, specifically mention the gift, and thank them for attending the wedding. It is nice to mention in the card how you will use or enjoy the gift. This demonstrates your appreciation and shows you truly care.
If a guest gives you money, it is important to thank them for the generosity without mentioning the specific amount. You may want to share what you will consider buying with the money, but do not feel obligated to do so.
If a guest did not give a gift it is still important for you to send them a thank you card for attending. It is also considerate for you to send thank you cards to vendors as they also helped make your big day special and memorable.
